Our Bridal Shows are a unique experience. We have the Dream Series shows at one of our vendors facilities so you are able to see what they offer. We feature 25 to 30 vendors in a casual, elegant atmosphere.
We also have our shows for 2 to 3 hours after 5:00 at night. They are designed so you and a friend can take your time to visit with the vendors in a relaxed atmosphere. You can actually take some time to learn what the vendor offers.

Hi Donna, How long has the Holiday Inn been doing busines in Downtown Des Moines? 33 Years
Who are the Principals?
The Director of Operations is Mr. Tom Goodman. Ms. Michelle Wall handles the Sales and Marketing. Ms. Diana Logan is the person who keeps our Catering department hopping, and our Sales Manager is Ms. Tresa Vedder.
That sounds like quite a group! Our experienced, professional staff has 80 cumulative years in the Event planning business. All are multi- talented and have the ability to handle all aspects of our Banquet catering services!
What is the favorite part of this group's job? We all enjoy meeting the challenges of an ever- changing audience, Clients, foods, decorating and trends in our Banquet Service.
Does the Holiday Inn Downtown have a specialty? Our specialty is our sincere belief to serve our clients in the most gracious manner possible and to host their events to meet their expectations.
Tell us what makes you unique among the other facilities available? We believe we set the standards of successful banquet events. Our Top of the Tower is the most unique banquet site in the area. We have the right staff in place, the right location and the ability to offer “Special Services” not available elsewhere.
We know the Holiday Inn's Special Secret... Do you want to share it with our subscribers? Our Chef is also an expert Ice Carver. This wonderful element adds a unique and personal touch to a wedding reception.
We've seen his work and it is stunning. It does set a very nice moment and mood for the reception! Do you have any advice for couples looking for a reception facility? Visit with our experienced staff as soon as possible!
We have many couples who book with us before their ceremony plans to insure the use of the “Room with a View”— the Top of the Tower. We sometimes reserve two years in advance.
Any final thoughts for our subscribers? To showcase our facility better, we encourage couples to call for an appointment to see our beautiful and unique Top of The Tower Ballroom, peruse our banquet offerings, and meet With our gracious Director of Marketing, Diana Logan, to make your wedding day, “The Memory of Your Lifetime”!

How Long have you been in the industry? I've been doing wedding photography for seven years
Who are the principals of the company? Myself, John Lee. I also have Casandra Mueller who is my assistant.
Any background or personal info you want to share with our audience about you and the principals? I have been married to my wonderful wife Kim for 13 years and we have three great children. It is because of them that I do what I do.
Wedding photography is the one thing I am passionate enough about to allow it to take time away from my family.
What is the favorite part of your job? Meeting and working with the couples and their families. I am a people person and truly enjoy meeting, getting to know and then capturing one of the most important days your family will experience together.
What is your companies specialty? We do all different types of photography from seniors , families, sports, and school photos. The main focus of our business is wedding photography!
What is the best "hidden secret" people would be surprised you offer? I am willing to travel the state or country to photograph a couples most special day and, I do it for an investment that won't break the bank!
What sets you apart from your competition? I have been told by many clients that I was so easy to work with and that I made the whole wedding photography experience lots of fun. "You can be a great artist and fun to work with at the same time!"
What Expert advice do you have for a couple planning their wedding? Take care of the big things first: Church, photographer, reception hall, and DJ. The other things will fall into place with just a little organization.
The other piece is to trust yourself and use someone YOU LIKE, your first instinct when meeting a vendor is usually right.
Any other thoughts about your company we didn't ask or should know? At a time when many studios are getting out of wedding photography I am truly excited about the fun, passion and beauty there is at every wedding and I truly look forward to yours!

Hey Soon to be Married couple! What are your Names? Shery and Nick
Where are you from? I was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I moved to New Jersey when I was 18. My aunt had lived here and wanted to know if I wanted to experience the east coast. I said "Sure." I packed my bags and drove here.
I lived with her for a year, then she wanted to move to PA. I was working at Starbucks Coffee at the time and I had met a lot of friends. I wanted to stay in New Jersey. So I became a nanny and I have been here since. I go to school as well and I am currently in the nursing program at RVCC.
It has been a great life change for me to experience a whole new world. I love New Jersey! I do love to go to Iowa to visit friends and family and that is what I always call my home. But, my new home is here.
Nick is from Sayreville, NJ. He has lived here his whole life. I brought him to Iowa two years ago for the first time. When we flew into Cedar Rapids, he asked me where all the houses were? He loved it though and he said all the people were really friendly.
He worked at UPS for seven years while he was pursuing his career as a state trooper. He just got into the academy in February class. He will be there for six months and we will only see each other on the weekends. It will be a growing experience for both of us. He will be graduating and becoming a trooper on July 28th, 2006.
That is quite a story! How did you meet? Through friends at Starbucks. I was going to school and he was working at UPS.
Tell us your beautiful proposal story? The story is quite funny. We were going into New York City to celebrate his birthday on December 3rd. We went to see the tree and a carriage ride in Central Park. I had planned a surprise day full of activities. In the evening when we got to the tree, he was going to propose to me there. Things went wrong and there were too many people. So on our way back we were going to stop at Starbucks Coffee to see some of my friends.
On the way there he took a detour to a swing set we always used to go to. When we got there we were swinging and then he started talking differently. As he came over to me and got on his knee and proposed. It was magical. It was like a scene from a movie.
Are you planning on going on a honeymoon? We are going on a honeymoon. There are so many places to pick from. Nick and I want to go to Hawaii. That is our dream honeymoon.
When is the wedding? We will be getting married in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on September 22, 2007. For people who can not travel from New Jersey to Iowa, we will be having a reception in New Jersey in November '07.
What is the most challenging part of planning your wedding? There is no bad things of planning my wedding. There is just a lot you have to do and so you have to use great time management skills.
Any secret wedding tips to pass along to other gals planning their wedding? Make sure to find time for yourself to do something you enjoy. For me when I am stressed, I go to the gym. It's healthy and I feel so much better after I workout.
Any Vendors you’ve been working with that have provided exceptional service so far? Digital Imaging Photography (Bill) and LMD productions DJ service. Clarion Hotel for reception (Jane) has been great.
Where do you each work or attend school? Nick is now in the state police academy pursuing his career as a state trooper. I go to school at RVCC for nursing and I am a nanny of four years.
When you started your wedding did you have a budget in mind? Are you able to stay within it? We are looking at the best deals related to the guests we are having. When I see things I like I get them so I am not getting everything at once. It spreads the spending out to make it easier on the budget.
Tell us about your wedding. The wedding is going to be at Cedar Hills Evangelical church in Cedar Rapids. It's going to be a special day for Nick and I. We are really looking forward to spending the rest of our lives together as well as seeing all the friends and family who are able to spend the special day with us.
I am having a heart theme with silver and plum as the colors.
Who is going to walk you down the aisle?
My dad will walk me down the aisle.
Your whole story sounds like a storybook! anything else special you care to add in? Nick and I have been dating for three years and they have been the best years of our lives. We are looking forward to spending the rest of our lives together in happiness.
You never know true happiness until you find the one for you. We have found each other and we like to thank our parents and family for making us who we are today. We both have great family values and goals that will live on throughout our years of life.
